Becoming a pro to replace circuit breakers

Updated: Dec 19, 2020

We all have to have the fair share of the circuit breaker tripping, and we manually have to turn it on again, but what to do when the circuit breaker blows and you need to replace it. Circuit breakers are designed in a way to cut off electricity if the power loading gets too high and there is a chance of an electrical fire starting. When a circuit breaker fails or falls apart the only logical thing to do is to replace circuit breaker with a new one and don’t worry we will walk you through it.

Taking the initiative

The first step to replace circuit breaker is to identify the kind of breaker you have, the model and the make and you should replace it with the same one as they affect the tension lines, holder connections and more. After getting a new circuit breaker you need to first cut off the power to ensure that you won’t get any shocks. Now to open and replace you first need to remove the breaker panel plate by unscrewing the screws using a screwdriver.

Now replace circuit breaker by isolating the black wire from the others and then pull the circuit breaker from the middle and it should snap free.

Here comes the tough part:

After you snap open the circuit breaker you now have to detach all the wires but do not let them touch each other. Unscrew the screw fastenings and remove the old circuit breaker. Attach the new breaker bolts to the wires like they were before. Ensure that the circuit breaker has been placed in an off position before you start to set it in again. Now to pop back the breaker in place, align it with the bus plate and use a little force to put the breaker back into position. Now the last step to see if you could replace circuit breaker successfully is to turn the power back on and see.
